As soon as you see those two lines on the pregnancy test, you start dreaming and imagining what this tiny human growing inside of you will look like. What their personality will be. Will they have your nose, Dads eyes, how tall will they be? Your due date seems like a lifetime away. It will fly by though before you know it you will be holding that little human. I promise you will miss that bump when it is gone. Even though now all you can think about is your aching back and swollen feet. It may not be right after baby is born, but eventually you will find yourself scrolling through those pregnancy photos and feeling a little empty. Possibly even feeling like you miss being pregnant.
Pregnancy is HARD, but beautiful and magical at the same time!
The connection that a mother has with her unborn child is something that is incredible and amazing. You feel their every move, hiccup, and kicks, all the things. These moments deserve to be captured as they won’t last forever. I promise those 9 months will go by in the blink of an eye! It means that when you start feeling nostalgic, you have something to look back on and reminisce about that time in your life.

Not only will it make your bond stronger, it is a way to include your partner in the pregnancy. Dad’s often take a while longer to bond with baby because they just don’t feel that same connection with baby as mothers do before they are born. As a mother, you feel completely and utterly connected to that baby the second you find out that you are pregnant. Including Dad in these maternity photos often gives them a sense of belonging. It will really help them develop an emotional bond with your tiny human before they are even born. I also think that Dads often take on the a lot of unspoken burden. The stress of trying to make sure their wives are comfortable, and happy. Not to mention the worry of the financial burden and the change in lifestyle that is on the horizon. A maternity photo session is such a great way to remind them to keep their eye on the bigger picture.

Time is fleeting – one second you will be learning how to swaddle and the next you will be teaching her or him how to drive. Trust me when I say this – you will miss that calmness that you felt when you were pregnant. The fact that the baby bump couldn’t talk back to you or how quiet your house was. As you look back on this time long passed, you will be grateful that you have these photos to look back on and remember.

When you have maternity photos taken, you are giving your unborn child a gift. A glimpse into a world they will never be able to see for themselves, the moments their parents spent together, as a couple before their arrival. It is physical proof of how excited you were to meet them. That in and of itself is a incredible gift to be able to give your child and those who come after them. It is part of their story and it deserves to be told. Maternity photos are definitely something that will be cherished by the whole family.
