So, let me guess your best friend or co worker just posted some SWOON worthy images of her new little bundle of joy and you are jealous. Am I close? I mean lets face it, we all want these kinds of pictures of our tiny humans to share with the world. So everyone can see how absolutely perfect your sweet baby is right? If this is the case, then you MUST get studio newborn photos. And I want to be the one to do them!
That is the most common question I get, well besides “wait is it REALLY going to take 3 hours?”. The short answer is yes, but there is a lot more to it. Newborn photos can absolutely be done in your home, I choose to do in studio newborn photos for a number of reasons. The main reason is consistency of images. Back in the day, I used to back my SUV to the brim with anything and everything I thought I would need and head out to a clients home. While the images I created were wonderful memories for the parents, there was something missing for me.
It never failed, I would need something that I thought I had packed with me but ended up leaving at home, or I wished I had brought that white knit romper, you get the idea. There is just a level of comfort knowing that anything and every I need is right there in my studio.
The truth is, I would get really anxious when I would travel to a clients home. While you may have the most amazing magazine worthy home, your natural light may not be all that Mama. I remember having to wedge myself into a half bath in someones home and do the session in there, bean bag and all because that is where the light was. Don’t get me wrong, the images were great, but the location was challenging. By having a studio with professional lighting, I can be confident that your images will look just like the ones you see on my website. And that gives me peace of mind.
One of the big things that makes babies sleepy is when they are warm. The womb is hot Mama, and that is what baby is used to. Studio newborn photos can ensure that the temperature is regulated so that baby is good and cozy! I warn my parents that the studio is hot, and encourage them to take breaks and go into my family room to cool off during the session.
Let’s face it, stuff happens. We can be over prepared and think we have it all covered, and then your camera jams, or a lens stops focusing, or your battery malfunctions. So many things could occur. It just makes me feel better knowing that I have all of my back ups, extra cameras, additional lenses, and multiple batteries at my finger tips. Less worry and it allows me to focus 100% on you and your baby, which is what you hired me for.
I do know that packing up the contents of your home and going out into the real world can seem like a lot so soon after baby arrives. I aim to create an environment that is relaxing and soothing for both you and baby. My hope is that once you set foot into my newborn photography studio that you forget about all of the chaos, the messy home and the lack of sleep. That you can focus on that beautiful new life that you created, even if it is just for a few short hours. I will take care of it all. Between myself and my assistant, rest assured that your sweet baby is in the best of hands and just sit back, relax and enjoy the moment.
