Is your camera roll on your phone a hot mess??
I know mine is. I am famous for taking a zillion family photos of vacations or soccer games with the intention of doing something amazing with them later. Or screen shots of something I see online and want to remember it later. Only for it to get sucked into the camera roll never to be seen again. Until my memory is full and I cant figure out why that is. These days cell phones have amazing cameras, great editing programs and incredible ways to organize those family photos for easy access later on.
Delete is your friend
I know DELETE is such a scary, final word Mama. But trust me, it can be an amazing powerful tool in your quest for organization. I mean how many photos on your camera roll are blurry, or taken by accident? Those screenshots that you snapped to remember where to find that recipe? Delete it. I challenge you to go through your camera roll and declutter all of the images that you don’t love. Try it, I promise it is kind of empowering……and you will feel better after it is done. Kind of like cleaning out a closet, you really don’t want to do it, but once it is done you are glad you did it.
Digital Albums to store your family photos!
Yes Mama, I know trusting your precious memories to the digital gods is hard. But this is the way now. Don’t get me wrong, I preach about printing your family photos (ALOT), but lets get real, we cant print them all. I mean I love my family but I don’t want our family photos wallpapering my home. Enter the handy digital albums on your phones camera roll. I love this because you can basically organize them anyway that makes sense to you! By date, event or whatever else you are drawn to. They are also super Easy to add to later on.
Your favorite photos
Do you have photos that you find yourself going back to again and again. Guess what? You can make a favorites folder. Now I am not saying put every single cute family photo in there, but it makes sense to go through your pictures and really think about which ones you love- those are the ones that belong in your favorites folder. The ones that are going to tell your story. Think twice about putting that screen shot of the new Louis Vuitton bag you are dreaming about in there.
BACK IT UP MAMA!
I am so guilty of this one and I am a professional photographer! Please for the love of all that is holy Mama, BACK YOUR PHOTOS UP! There are so many cloud based programs out there, use them. Google has a super user friendly program you can check out here. It is a pretty quick process and you have the comfort of knowing that those family photos will be safe forever.
Can’t find that one family photo you are looking for?
It happens to all of us! Enter the faces function – it is so cool because it uses the people album in your camera roll and groups the same faces together. I mean technology is so cool isn’t it?!?!? This makes it easy peasy to find that photo of you and your husband on that trip to Italy a few years ago.

I think this is by far my favorite feature and a great way to keep myself organized. The shared album feature is AMAZING!
