Why studio newborn photography?
I have been getting a TON of inquiries for at home newborn photography. Which, if you follow me on any kind of social media, you know that I do not do. When I tell prospective clients that I do not do at home photography sessions, they always ask why. I mean its a completely valid question…..so, I thought I would write a little blog and explain why I insist on shooting in my Colorado Newborn Photography Studio.
I am a control freak……
It sounds silly, but I am. I need to know that I can control ALL THE THINGS when it comes to giving my clients these heirloom quality newborn pictures. You are probably thinking, my house is incredible it has the most amazing windows and light. I get it, and I love natural light as much as everyone. But what if it is cloudy the day of your photo session? Maybe the direct sun is shining right into your home at the time of your newborn photography session? These factors are going to effect the outcome of your pictures. When you use a strobe light, you get the same type of images every single time………This is what YOU deserve, what you are paying me for, to give you the types of images you see on my website. Back in the day I used to travel to peoples homes before I had a Colorado Newborn Photography Studio. It was hard. I was not confident in the product I was delivering to my clients and I knew that I needed to change that if I was going to continue to grow my business.
Temperature matters
This is a super important factor in creating these stunning fine art portraits. You see, baby likes it WARM, like really warm. I joke that if we are not sweating, it is not hot enough. In my photography studio, I keep the room at about 78 degrees for my newborn photography sessions. I find that having that constant warm temperature ensures that baby gets into a deep slumber and we can make the most of our time together. Most homes have 1 maybe 2 thermostats, so it is incredibly difficult to keep the entire house that temperature.
I need options…..
When I used to travel to peoples homes, I would plan the session to a T and double and triple check that I had everything I could possibly need. It never failed, that something would happen and I wished I had that beige knit wrap or that tiny wicker bed. By having all of my sessions in my Colorado Newborn Photography Studio, I always have everything I need. That really adds another layer to my confidence in being able to provide my clients with the most amazing images of their new tiny human.
You deserve to relax
Yes, I get it – the thought of packing up your entire house, getting yourself photo ready AND getting to my studio on time seems like a daunting task. But trust me when I say you will be so glad that you did. Once you set foot into my newborn photography studio, I want you to forget about everything else. All of the chaos, the never ending pile of laundry, your sink full of dirty dishes, whatever it is leave it at the door. This is a time for YOU. A time for you to really take in all of the amazingness that is this tiny life. You deserve this.
