Don’t worry, I’ve got you Mama!
Denver Photographers everywhere and many other small businesses are getting hit hard with all of the uncertainty of the world right now. Everything is canceled, schools have switched to remote learning and basically life as we all know it is changing at a rapid pace. I know I personally have never experienced anything like this. My own children are already going stir crazy as soccer is cancelled, trips and playdates are postponed. I have been scouring the internet for tips and ideas to keep my kiddos and myself entertained during this “break”.
Going back to basics
I am not going to lie to you, my business is going to suffer. People just are not thinking about hiring Denver Photographers right now. And I don’t blame you. We all have other things to think about. As I have been trying to put all of this into perspective, I find that I keep coming back to finding the good in this situation. My family, and I am sure many others, are SO BUSY all of the time that family time is few and far between.
I choose to be grateful……
I am choosing to be grateful that I get to spend all of this time with my kids. Grateful that we have a beautiful home to be in, grateful that we live in a state where we can get outside and hike beautiful trails (while practicing social distancing of course) and just grateful to be able to have more then a 5 minute conversation in passing with my husband. I am sure it will grow old as this epidemic continues to spread and grow, but for now I am choosing to look at it in a positive light and I encourage you to do so as well. I am also choosing to do what I am sure many other Denver Photographers are doing and DEEP CLEAN and organize my studio!
Entertaining your kiddos…….
I don’t know about you, but I do not feel even close to equipped to be home schooling and educating my kids (kudos to all of the teachers out there, we appreciate you more then you know!). I think having a schedule much like a school day is going to be the best way to go. If you are looking for some ideas of things to do with your children at home, look no further –
- You can take your kids to the museum – virtually of course, but 12 different museums are offering virtual tours, how cool is that? Check out the article here.
- Video chatting with friends, gosh technology these days is amazing!
- Schedule time to be active. There are so many streaming services that you can find a workout that will appeal to everyone. Or if the weather is nice take a family walk with the dog.
- Game days – We just bought a bunch of games and my kids are excited to try some new ones.
- Clean out your closets.
- Have a beach party in your living room!
- Many online learning sources are available and offer a fun alternative to traditional school lessons- Check out a favorite of ours here
- Check out my portfolio! (I just updated all of my galleries yay me!!!)
Lend a helping hand
You never know who needs help. This is a great time to teach your kids the lesson of empathy. Checking on older neighbors to make sure they have groceries and medication can really be helpful. Putting a box of supplies together for a local shelter is another way to help others.
Support local small businesses
While all businesses are suffering, your local small businesses are probably feeling this hit a little harder. Ask yourself how you can help support them? Many restaurants are now offering curb side take out, personal trainers are streaming workouts, and most businesses offer gift certificates. Consider purchasing some to use at a later date. With that said, I am offering 20% off all of my services when you purchase a gift certificate! Say what?!?! Yep you can hire me, your favorite Denver Photographer, to take your photos at a later date. My gift certificates are good for a year from the date of purchase! Have a friend or family member’s birthday coming up? Get them a gift certificate for a family portrait session. You do not even have to leave your home! We will mail you a certificate or email it if you prefer! Easy peasy. This discounted certificate will be available for a limited time so I encourage you to jump on it if you are considering family portraits in the not so distant future! You can snag yours here
You’ve got this Mama!
In a world where everything is so uncertain right now let’s support each other, let’s lean on each other and let’s be KIND to each other. I am truly blessed to be able to do what I do each and every day and I have YOU to thank for it. Drop a comment with your small business so that we can share the love.
