You know that feeling when the stars align and everything just falls into place? Yep, that is what happened with this session. The light was AHHHMAZING for golden hour portraits, the location was perfect, and the family was so much fun! I just loved how they took my prompts and ran with it. We had so much fun running around & being silly. I even captured what I like to call in-between moments. Those little moments where they don’t think you are shooting so they snuggle up or do something completely unexpected. Little do my clients know (well, now you do, lol), that I never stop shooting. My camera is on and ready to go until I get into my car at the end of the session.
I want to touch upon the light in this session too. Often, my clients request these pretty golden hour portraits, with the perfect light. I mean who wouldn’t want photos like this? I know I do – but it has yet to work out for me. We always seem to get rain or some kind of overcast weather for my own family portraits. But that is OK! I still treasure my family photos and love the moments and the images that were captured. Anyway, there are so many factors that go into this golden light that everyone pines over.
Golden Hour Portraits in Colorado
The biggest one is the time of the session. This is why I only shoot an hour before sunset. Yes, even in the summer when the sun is up until almost 8:30 or 9 pm. You want that light just as the sun is going down over the horizon. THAT is when you get the perfect, golden, glowy light.
The other factor is good
I feel so fortunate that I get to call this work. Who else gets to wake up every single day and help families celebrate life & love? I love that I get to tell their story. It is incredible to be able to create a moment in amongst all of the chaos that is new parenthood, where new moms and dads can really just focus on that amazing, tiny human that they created. I am pretty lucky if you ask me!
If you are expecting or know someone who is, I would be honored to craft a completely custom portrait experience for you!
