{Behind the Scenes} Denver Newborn Photographer

Uncategorized

I get asked time and time again to post some behind the scenes shots from my sessions.  This tends to be hard for me when I don’t always have an assistant.  I do however LOVE it when I get the chance to see some that a client snapped or an assistant when I am lucky enough to have one.

So much time and planning goes into preparing a session, wether it is a newborn or a family photography session.  A common misconception is that I book the session, grab my camera and go to the session.  This couldn’t be further from the truth.  All of my sessions start with a new client questionnaire – either in person or online.  This gives both the potential client and myself a chance to get to know each other a little better to see if my vision and style is comparable with theirs….kind of like a relationship 🙂  From there, we get them on the calendar.  Then my job really starts.  See, it is my responsibility to ensure that my client’s vision is brought to life.  It is such an important job, capturing and preserving those fleeting moments.  After all, that is what you will show your children and your children’s children and so on……that is YOUR legacy.  I spend a lot of time choosing props, blankets, wraps, outfits and backdrops to ensure that your session is just perfect.

Here are a few shots of the studio before a session –

I think that preparing for the photography session is almost as fun as the session itself.  I get to be creative.  I always try to create a different look for each and every client.  For my newborns, while I do re-use hats, wraps etc, I always knit or crochet (yep I do it all haha!) something new and special just for that session.  Here are a few behind the scenes shots taken by various clients and assistants!

After the session, I get to go through and carefully select the images to edit (I will spare you the tedious task that this is……….) I professionally retouch them and then you get to see them!  I love helping my clients create art for their homes and heirlooms to pass down from generation to generation.  I also love to present them wrapped up in pretty little boxes!  I have even been known to give treats!

I truly feel so blessed to be able to do something that I love every single day.  I couldn’t do it without my clients- It makes me so happy that a lot of my clients have turned into friends too- I truly have it all!  I am looking forward to all of the fun new things that this year has in store.  If you or someone you know is looking for a photographer, it would mean the world to me if you passed my name along.  (I give a GREAT referral bonus!)
